QUALIFICATIONS

Macoupin County's longest serving Coroner - Serving from 1980-2009 - Elected for eight terms.
Served on Community Memorial Hospital Board of Directors.
Farmer - Raised on family farm in Dorchester Township. Operated family farm from 1987-1991
Businessman - Owns and operates funeral home in Bunker Hill. Started business in 1977.
Graduate of Blackburn College in Carlinville, Illinois. BA degree in History and Political Science
Voted Bunker Hill Citizen of the Year for 2009.

It is my hope and desire to be the next State Representative for the 98th District. I am proud to be a life-long resident and to uphold our district’s traditional values. Together we can work to improve the lives of the citizens of our district and all our children. Education is a valuable right that must be protected. It is one of my goals to improve our education system and work with a common sense problem solving mission to mend the problems of our current system. Safety for our children and our seniors must be promoted and rewarded. Our great State of Illinois is suffering from financial problems as is the rest of our Nation. We, the people of Illinois, are not afraid of hard work, and I as your State Representative will do everything possible to bring jobs to the unemployed.

For 28 years, I served as Macoupin County Coroner. I have been there during the worst times in the lives of many families. I stood beside those families and worked with them through the trying circumstances they faced. I will as your representative, stand by you, the people of the 98th District, to work through difficult days now and the ones that are ahead. We will emerge a strong state together. Our nation and state are becoming more and more divided on issues. Each side refuses to accept any compromise, and because of the lack of cooperation, very little can be accomplished. We can no longer afford to let this continue. One of the great strengths of our Nation is that we have pulled together in times of crisis. Leaders have stepped forward and the people have joined together to follow their examples. We must be willing to listen to each other, and learn to disagree without being disagreeable. We must strive to find common ground among ourselves and only in that way will we be able to solve our problems and move our great state forward. I pledge to have an open door to the constituents of the98th District, and will listen to your concerns and ideas. Although, I may not always agree with you, I will always seek to find important input in what you have to say.
